What is Flyball????

Q: Hey what is Flyball?
A: Only the most hi-speed, exciting, and fastest growing dog sport today!

Flyball is a high-speed team sport for dogs and their people.  Its a relay race in which two four-dog teams race against each other in parallel.  Each dog jumps four hurdles, triggers a spring-loaded box to release a ball, catches the ball, and carries it back over the hurdles and starting line, at which time the next dog is released and so on and so forth.  Speed is important, but accuracy counts too.  Any error and that dog has to rerun, thus adding to the teams total time.

Jump heights are determined by the height of the smallest dog on the team.  This dog is called the "height dog" and they are worth their weight in gold.  Why lower jumps are better... because the lower the jumps, the faster that dogs can run over them, and the lower the time!

Tournaments are divided into divisions so that teams can compete against other teams of equal abilities, therefore racing stays exciting and any team can win!  All dogs, purebred or mix-breed, are eligible to compete and earn titles.  Dogs can get awards both for winning their division and for accumulating points throughout their careers.
